I thought I would start by sharing the reason I run.
It all started because of the bravest, most patient, most trusting and most positive little boy.
A little boy who believes in me as much as i believe in him.
'True friendship knows the distance'
Isaac and his family were always getting told what he couldn't do, what life he would never have, professionals always so negative towards what must feel like everything. as a parent this must be so heartbreaking, why can't people see through the disability and look at all the amazing things Isaac can do even with a disability as severe as the family are constantly told he has.
Isaac has a great sense of hamper, that mischievous little twinkle in his eye, that smile that instantly melt your heart, the way that you when you are lucky enough to get to know Isaac, he has his little special ways of commenting with you, and that special look he gives to say 'its ok, I trust you."
I had never really ran much, always kept fit to an degree, went to the gym, did the odd run with my dad when i felt i needed to get into my dads good books!
My dad is a keen runner, so this is the only way!
me: "dad do you think i could run 50 miles?"
(this was after being caught up in all the buzz, and being sleep deprived after following him as he completed a 100 mile race in the french alps called ultra Trail mont Blanc, aka UTMB...
so i asked again...
dad: "NO" this time laughing
me: "but if you train me do you think i could...."
" i want to raise money to help Isaac, this is a challenge and something that will push me out of my comfort zone..."
dad: "Lets see!"
that mean yes?!
oh no! suddenly reality hit.... I'm going to train to run 50 miles.....50 miles!
